Smart rings track sleep, heart rate, and activity without a screen, notifications, or the bulk of a watch. Their appeal is precisely that they disappear: many users report wearing a ring consistently in situations where they'd take off a watch, which means more consistent health data over time.
Health patches are moving from clinical to consumer
Continuous glucose monitors, once a specialized medical device, have expanded into consumer wellness, and similar patch-based sensors are being developed for hydration, lactate, and other metrics. These small adhesive sensors offer continuous data that a periodic check-in simply can't match.
Smart glasses are attempting a comeback
Earlier smart glasses struggled with awkward design and unclear use cases. Newer versions focus on more modest, achievable goals: audio, quick photo capture, and simple heads-up notifications, rather than trying to overlay a full augmented reality experience immediately.

Across all these categories, the direction is the same: collect useful data with less daily friction than existing devices require. A ring you never take off, a patch that lasts a week, and glasses you'd wear anyway all beat a device that requires remembering to charge and wear it separately.
What to watch for
Battery life, comfort for all-day wear, and whether the data actually leads to a useful insight or action are the real tests. A wearable that collects data nobody looks at isn't solving anything, no matter how clever the sensor inside it is.
